Counters Hollywood :

• Hollywood control the vast majority of movie releases. They control what we are allowed to see. And because it is driven by the blockbusters it often fails to reflect what others really want to see. Hollywood even control many so-called independent movies through their second tier studios. And they often get it wrong. By catering to the volume market they neglect more discerning movie goers. And that’s why truly independent movies such as (Andy to fill in 3 big but critically acclaimed indie movies e.g Juno) have taken Hollywood by surprise So this is your chance to pick a winner that could be both critically acclaimed and a success amongst fans of independent movies.

Fans know more than fat cats :

• Fans know what they like in a movie. Hollywood fat cats only look for what they think will be popular at the box office. This often dumbs down ideas and leaves movies goers with mediocrity. But what fans like in a movie is often what sells to other fans. They may not be blockbusters but independent movies are usually more original and ground breaking than their mainstream counterparts. Have you ever heard that Hollywood changes the endings of films to suit a pre-screening audience (add in anecdotes here). Now there’s directorial integrity! And they are talking to the wrong people. Movie fans can be far more discriminating than the average pre-screening audience. You can now make the choices and get to see the movies you think are great.

From 2009 we will start buying a slate of independent movies, as chosen by our members. The acquisitions will be funded by the Club’s members who have decided to invest £15 each into the voted for movie. This may not sound much money, but for every thousand members that adds £15,000 to the pot. So a few thousand members enables us to acquire some decent indie movies.

We will then Release these movies at cinemas across the UK and Ireland and then on DVD, with members making all the all the key decisions affecting the movie and its promotion.

• TheMoviesClub is owned by its shareholders. It is open to anyone who registers as a member or subscribes as a shareholder. As a shareholder, you make all the decisions, such as which movie to buy and where it will be shown.

What say do members have?

• It’s an equal Community. Everyone has One Share, One Vote.
• All equal partners. If you own a share then no one else has more power than you. Members will be able to discuss and have an equal vote on movie selection, acquisition, marketing, promotion, and all key decisions on the running of the club all through the website.

Using microfinance to enable shareholders to buy a real movie for only £15. Below we explain each stage from being a member, to the rewards from owning your own movie.

1. Share

   You can become a shareholder and own and distribute a movie for just £15. Or you can get involved in the discussion forum about independent movies for free by simply registering as a member.

   Post your Movie Idea – from movies that won Cannes film festival to movies we’ve never even heard of.

1. Vote

   As a shareholder you get to vote on which movie to buy. We will show you which movies are available to buy and once you have looked at the reviews just cast your vote.

   Check out other people’s suggestions and vote on the ones you like best. The community votes. The community decides.

1. Discuss

   Co-own a variety of movies. Full involvement throughout the release of your movie, onto the big screen.

   Talk about ideas with other members and shareholders and help make them even better.

1. Reward

   Members decide how all profits are split between re-investing and a dividend reward for you. Plus there are some nice perks such as Premieres and involvement in the movie industry.

   The proof is in the pudding. The Movies released are as chosen by our members, who are involved all the way as they hit the big screen. And we see hot much money they will make.
